The drops are then checked in order from first to last, using the same number. The adjusted probabilities you end up with will be 4, 5 and 6 respectively. Let's say you have the following drops and probabilities (I'm using raw numbers rather than percentages): That may seem mystifying, but it's a programming trick that eliminates the need for multiple passes. The game adjusts the probabilities by adding the first to the second, and the first and the second to the third. This number is compared to the stack of adjusted probabilities. This number is then multiplied by the total of all drop percentages, adjusted a bit if it comes up negative, and then shifted and masked until the result is a relatively small number 255 or less.

When an enemy is killed the game uses a seed-initially, I believe, from the system clock, but on subsequent passes, it's the last large integer generated-and some magic numbers** to generate a pseudo-random number. The probability is represented by a number that can be between 0 and 255, so 255 would be ~100%, 128 a fraction more than 50%, and 26 a fraction more than 10%, etc. Each enemy can have up to three drops, and the drops typically have descending probability from the first to the third. I searched around the forum a bit, and couldn't find a topic that was a good fit.Īs long as you don't have a Hunter Rune equipped, the drop is recomputed every time an enemy dies*, until a drop occurs or you run out of enemies. Having cluttered up the Elemental Resistances & Bestiary thread quite enough, I thought I'd start another for this. Probably not too useful, but it might help another hacker find something he's looking for.Best title I could come up with at the moment. For the most part it doesn't hurt, since it has no effect on current HP. It probably affects enemies as well, so I'd turn it off if you're about to fight something that can heal itself. As characters are evaluated their maximum HP is set to 999 (after a fashion).

I was just trying to rule out a particular routine, and the end result was a somewhat curious effect. While I was searching for this, I made another code I hadn't really planned to. Oh, and Prosperity Runes would stack as well. It doesn't actually change your runes or anything the game just counts up the Fortune Runes your character is wearing as part of the experience calculation, and the code simply replaces the actual counting with the specified value.

In any case, at a very high level the ? in this code is the number of Fortune Runes your character appears to be wearing with the code on. I think you can only get one of them, and I don't recall if it's a head-only rune or something like that, so it's probably a moot point. Hopefully this forum software allows merging.Īs an interesting side note, Fortune Runes were designed to stack in this game for some reason. Sorry for the double-post, but I didn't want this to go missed by just editing.
